Fairyland is a mythical realm that is also referred to as Fairy or Faerie, though the latter usage is now considered archaic. It is often believed to be ruled by the "Queen of Fairy", and anything from fairyland is sometimes described as being from the "Court of the Queen of Elfame" or from the Seelie court in Scottish folklore. The Scots word elfame or elphyne, meaning "fairyland", has various forms that were attested in Scottish witch trials. However, Elf-hame or Elphame with the -hame stem (which means 'home' in Scots) were conjectural readings by Pitcairn. It is said that fairyland is a magical place of enchantment where fairies and other mythical creatures reside. It is often depicted as a beautiful, mystical kingdom, hidden away from the mortal world, where ageless beauty and eternal happiness are the norm. The concept of fairyland has captivated people's imaginations for centuries, and it continues to inspire writers, artists, and storytellers to this day.
