The Hecate's Wheel, also known as Strophalos, is an ancient Greek symbol that represents the lunar Goddess Hecate and her triple aspect. The emblem is described as a serpent surrounding a spiral that symbolizes divine thought. Hecate holds power over heaven, earth, and sea, and bestows wealth and all the blessings of daily life. She is the chief goddess presiding over magic and spells and assisted in the search for Demeter's daughter, Persephone, when she was abducted to the underworld. Hecate is commonly depicted with three bodies standing back-to-back, often accompanied by a dog or dogs. The crossroads are where magic is thought to be the most intense, and Hecate presides over it. Hecate's dogs were actually shades or demons. Additionally, Hecate is associated with doorways, walls, and borders. Finally, Hecate's associations with spellwork have given her affiliations to numerous plants, such as Oak, Yew, garlic, and Aconite.
