The Ladies of the Night
I’ve been working with herbs and flowers a lot lately and on different projects, so I thought it’d be fun to share my favorite 3 night-blooming flowers.
Moonflower: It symbolizes the growth potential of our soul and personality when we are faced with challenging and difficult periods in our lives. It holds the meaning of mysteries of intuition and the mystical movement of the stars and moon, a symbol of delicate femininity.
Night Gladiolus: The flower symbolizes strength, an astounding beauty, preparedness, and love at first sight. The stem base (corms) of the gladiolus were made into a poultice for thorns and splinters and used for it’s healing properties. The name gladiolus comes from the sword or “gladius” shape leaves. The gladiolus symbolized the Roman gladiators.
Queen of the Night: It is one of the strangest plants in the desert. It blooms only after 7 pm for six hours. Each flower blooms only for a single night. The stem of the plant is used for treating diabetes.
