This post is something less than a freelance post of me giving you small tips and insights. I would say it’s mostly a personal or even a therapy post… is something like that even exists. I wonder how many of you freelance designers have been experiencing stress. I bet a lot. And if you’re wondering if it ever goes away, oh boy, it never does.
There are always things to be stressed about and i can imagine each freelancer has hers / his reasons. For me lately it has been that i’m pushing enough myself, but feeling that i’m not pushing enough myself. So odd, i cannot even put it into words. From one side i feel that there’s a lot of things to handle at the same time while expanding, and from the other, that i’m not doing much.
I’ve sat hours thinking how to make this post useful to you, how to give you a tip if your experiencing stress that gets under your skin but each case is unique. One thing that helps me out, is shutting my laptop and with it every thought i have of work when evening comes. My rules are clear, don’t think about work, don’t think about anything that stresses you out, and if you do while you go to sleep, start thinking about cats and unicorns!

  • Well girl, stressing is the only thing it seems I’m doing lately and something that has helped me a lot is yoga. I know every person has different needs but yoga has been so helpful to me that I suggest it to anyone dealing with anxiety. I remember you enjoyed practicing yoga yourself in the past, maybe you should try it again 🙂 filakia from Rotterdam sweetie ** lovely lettering btw 🙂

    • I’ve been taking yoga classes since May! They’re definitely helping but what i could definitely use is some chill pills 😛 Filakia poi kefalonia koritsi!

  • I think the only time most people are stressed was as children (myself included)….but then you start school and the floodgates of stress opens up for us pretty much in one way or another. I think we as individuals have to find *something that helps us to manage this as stress/daily life seem to go hand in hand.

You are amazing, and looking at your rate of publishing work, incredibly productive! So chin up – you do awesome! I am also suffering of stress, which comes mainly from perfectionism, which blocks the hell out of me, so counterproductive… one guy that I find very useful – Tim Ferris – do you know him? He shares a lot in his podcasts and blog posts, check him out and let me know if useful.

    • Never thought how perfectionism could stress the hell out of us. Definitely need to chill out just a bit! And never heard of Tim Ferris, on my way to check him out. Thank you so much!

  • Just posting this has helped. I needed a quote like that this week! Thanks!

    • that’s so sweet of you! Hope the new week feels much better

  • You’ve got this! Your work is beautiful, and during tough times like these when stress is taking over, take a minute to think about how awesome you are. Sometimes it’s nice to write down a few things you’ve accomplished over the past few months to reflect and help you realize that you’re doing the absolute best you can (and rocking it!).

    • see, i totally agree with Gabi! it’s so true – we’re all awesome & we need to take the time to remember that, especially when we’re feeling stressed. xx

    • this a good piece of advice girl! You’re the best :*

  • Me, trying to be an adult: “From one side i feel that there’s a lot of things to handle at the same time while expanding, and from the other, that i’m not doing much.”
