As a designer and shop owner on Etsy myself, i've been wanting to do an Etsy column for quite a while now. I spend almost an hour daily (on the good days) on Etsy, creating treasury lists - my favourite, and finding new shops. And that's the purpose of this column, to get you a little closer to Etsy Shop owners, get to know them just a bit more, and discover some fresh stuff and my favourite shops
I found Julia's wonderful shop from Thatch and Thistle. Her work is definitely magnetising. I instantly fell for the soft colours she uses (you know i love them), the simplicity and uniqueness. Her style is definitely something to watch! I mean... just how adorable are the sleep masks?
A little bit from Julia...
My name is Julia, and I am from Ukraine. I spent my childhood in the mountains of Georgia. My parents were in the military and lived at the outpost, away from civilisation Currently I live in my home country. I'm 27 years old and I have a loving husband Victor and a son, also Victor.
I love sewing by hand. Of course, I use a sewing machine when I try to sew big pieces together. However, all of my products have parts made by hand and some are entirely handmade. I always buy a limited amount of certain fabric so almost every single one of my creations is unique and different from the rest. Even if I try to make two identical items, in the end they always have some differences.
I do what I do because I just can’t live without it. For me it is not “work”, in the usual sense of the word, it's a lifestyle. Sometimes I like to get away from reality and plunge into the world of childhood, colours, and fantasies.
